You don’t have to hunt through the ribbon to create a range name. Here’s the trick, select the cells you want to assign a range name to, then click in the Name Box at the upper left corner and below the File and Home tabs. Normally the name box will display the cell reference of the current selection.

Quickly Create Range Names

The name box, at the left of the ribbon, is an easy way to create new range names.

Type in the Name Box the range name you want assigned to your current cell selection, then press Enter. When you later select this same range the name of the range will appear in the name box.
